Robert was born on April 27, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Rev. Robert and his wife Phyllis were united in marriage on August 15, 1959 at Trinity First Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He studied at the University of Minnesota, Dunwoody Institute and Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL. Rev. Robert worked at Magnetic Controls and served in the United States Air National Guard before becoming a pastor. Rev. Robert Volkert served as a pastor for Zion Lutheran Church- Grant Park, IL, Grace Lutheran Church- Hamburg, NY, Hill City Lutheran Church- Hill City, MN and Vacancy Pastor at Salem Lutheran Church- Buffalo, NY. Besides telling people about Jesus, Bob loved fishing, his Scott Atwater motor, watching anything about history, playing the piano and being with his family. Trinity Lutheran Church members in Hill City send our sympathy to all of you. Pastor Volkert's humor and gregariousness is sadly missed by the whole Hill City community but we are thankful to have had him with us as long as he and Phyllis were here.
