SCHUMER — Shirley (nee Chatley)

Of Hamburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home on October 23, 2026, at the age of 89. She enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, chocolate and Belgian waffles with lots of maple syrup, but above all she loved her family and being together with us. Predeceased by her beloved husband, H. Ronald, in 1989; parents Frank and Irene (nee Schunk) Chatley; brothers George, Robert, Francis, John, Walter and Ira; sisters Agnes, Isabelle, Ella, and Rita and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Survived by her loving family, all of whom she adored: children Steven (Mary), Mark (Mary Beth), John (Deborah), and Tamara (Steve); grandchildren Elizabeth (Nicholas), Timothy (Chloe), Mary Margaret (William), Jacob, Ronald, and Bryan; great-grandchildren Maya, Nora, Eleanor, and Finnegan; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Our family is grateful to our cousin Dena for her love and companionship through the years as Mom’s best friend. We are also appreciative of the compassionate care provided to Mom by our extended family and caregivers during her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg, NY at 10 am on Monday, November 23. There will be no prior visitation.
