Beloved son of the late Thomas (Dolly) Gioia; cherished brother of Amelia “Amy” Gioia, Thomas “Tee” Gioia Jr. and Steven “Stevie” Gioia; dearest uncle of Anthony (Diane), Joshua (Ashley), Michael (Rebecca), James (Tiffany), Thomas (Suleima) III and Maria (Jonathan); beloved friend of Dr. Lei Huang; also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; dearest great-great-uncle of Hunter. Family will receive friends of Wednesday, March 18th from 4-8 PM at LOOMIS, OFFERS & LOOMIS INC. FUNERAL HOME (Memorial Chapel) 1820 Seneca Street Buffalo, NY 14210. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 19th at 9:30 AM at St. Teresa’s RC Church. Please assemble at church. Flowers gratefully declined, memorial contributions in Richard’s honor may be made to St. Teresa’s RC Church. Richard was a teacher for 37 years, working throughout the Buffalo Public School System and lastly at Notre Dame Academy.



My heart is broken. The way you cared for our son Vinny meant the world to us. You always wanted the best for him and it is appreciated more then you’ll ever know. Vinny looked up to you so much. Mr. Gioia, you are one of the kindest people that I ever met and you will be missed very much. May you rest in peace.
