Of Hamburg, NY. April 22, 2024. Beloved husband of 67 years to Geraldine V. DiMatteo (née Marrano); cherished father of David (Julie) DiMatteo, Deborah

DiMatteo and Stephen (Denise) DiMatteo; dearest Grandpa of Anthony (Molly), Eric (Danielle), Lisa (Peter) and Kevin (Calla) and great-grandfather of

eight great-grandchildren; loving brother of Joseph (Barbara) DiMatteo and the late Anna DiMatteo; also survived by three nieces. No prior visitation. A

celebration of Life and Burial service will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 10:30 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery, 5223 Abbott Road Hamburg, NY 14075.

Flowers gratefully declined, memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society or Juvenile Diabetes JDRF One Walk Team- Calvin’s Crew


Robert served in the Air National Guard under the United States Air Force including active duty from October 1, 1961 to August 24, 1962.


Robert spent the majority of his insurance career as CFO and Executive Vice-President of Clauss & Company Insurance Agency. During his career, Robert served as a board member of many professional and community organizations. His involvement usually developed into leadership roles such as PIA (National Association of Professional Insurance Agents) at both the local and state association. Others include Fourth Degree Knight, past officer and director of the Knights of Columbus Council 2220 (Hamburg), Alpha Kappa Psi National Business Fraternity, Wanakah Country Club (President & 50 Year Member). He was

considered a mentor to many individuals in the Buffalo business community. He was very

active in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which at the time had a Buffalo chapter. He

held several positions and chaired committees.


Throughout his retirement, Robert loved

playing golf, residing in North Port, Florida and playing at Heron Creek Golf and Country Club.
