BRECHTEL- Marlene J. (née Mergenhagen)

Marlene Brechtel passed away on September 6, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Buffalo, New York, Marlene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adolphine Mergenhagen.

Marlene was married for 69 years to her beloved husband, Charles Brechtel. Their enduring marriage was a testament to love, commitment, and devotion.

She was the loving mother of Kenneth (Margaret) Brechtel, Lori (John) Perna, Jacqui (James) Tarnowski, and Scott (Christina) Brechtel; the cherished grandmother of Jordan and Tyler (Nicolette) Perna, Alexa and Austin Tarnowski, Emily (Bhargav Vasist), Jack, and Natalie Brechtel; proud great-grandmother of Cullen Perna. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jacob Brechtel.

Marlene will be remembered with great affection for her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 18, @ 11:00 a.m. from St. Teresa’s RC Church, 1974 Seneca Street, South Buffalo. Please gather at the church. No prior visitation.
