of Hamburg, NY. May 6, 2023. Survived by her children Peter Schmidt (Christine) and Karen Schmidt (James Morrill) and their families and sister Sally Fisk (Robert). Pre-deceased by parents Donald D. Cook and Berenice S. Cook. Marydale was born in Buffalo July 7th, 1934 and raised in Angola. A graduate of Angola High School, Hiram College and Syracuse University, she dedicated her career as an educator to the guidance of young adults and students, spending the major portion of her career as a Guidance Counselor in the Lakeshore School District. As a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, Marydale served in multiple capacities within the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York including service on the vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church, Hamburg. Marydale was a woman who made things happen. In third grade, she set herself a goal to visit all seven continents in her lifetime and succeeded, visiting her final continent, Antarctica, in 1998. She was active in the community in multiple ways, providing leadership to volunteer organizations publicly and also through her many private, quiet acts of kindness to friends and those in need. In recent years, Marydale enjoyed traveling and shopping with her granddaughters Sonia and Phoebe, watching her son Peter become a grandfather to Ben and Trevor, sharing books with her dedicated readers and socializing with friends from Lakeshore School District, Trinity, Adelynrood, and residents, staff and aides at Orchard Glen. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church- Hamburg, NY on Saturday May 20th at 11 am. Funeral arrangements entrusted to LOOMIS, OFFERS & LOOMIS INC. FUNERAL HOME (Hamburg Chapel).
